The Mayor of the District of Bamako is a signatory to the Fast-Track Cities commitment that has been renewed during the 9th African and Francophone Conference on HIV and hepatitis in April 2018 in Bordeaux, France. In our capacity as municipal authorities, we have an important role to play in the fight against HIV and AIDS. We strongly believe that the days of AIDS are numbered.

"HIV is becoming more and more treatable in industrialized countries. The City of Vienna provides excellent health care facilities with equal access for the entire population. Beyond that, Vienna being Fast-Track City commits itself to aims that are even more ambitious by implementing the 90:90:90 goals as well as Zero-Discrimination Policy. Until the year 2030, no new infections of HIV should occur. People living with HIV shall no longer suffer stigmatization and discrimination. These are truly ambitious goals but with united power, we will be able to reach this target."

HIV/AIDS is an issue that affects everyone, and it demands an all-inclusive long-term solution. I am proud of the work the City of Phoenix has already accomplished but know there is much more to be done. Together we will work to end this disease in our city once and for all, and remove the unfair stigma associated with people living with HIV/AIDS."
