Het H-team combineert de nieuwste medische inzichten met psychosociaal onderzoek en campagnes gericht op risicogroepen, huisartsen en andere zorgprofessionals. Als het project succesvol is, wordt het mogelijk uitgebreid op nationaal niveau.

And in many major cities, over half of all people live without access to HIV prevention, testing, treatment and care.

The Public Health Service (GGD) is launching the Amsterdam PrEP project (AMPrEP): a demonstration project regarding PrEP implementation for HIV prevention among gay men and transgender people in Amsterdam. PrEP is a pill containing HIV medication that prevents HIV infection and is for people who are not infected with HIV but may be at increased risk of becoming infected. Aim of this project is to investigate how many men would want to use PrEP, how consistently tablets are taken, how they experience using PrEP and whether PrEP use changes their use of condoms.

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — Thousands of supporters walked, strolled and strutted for six miles Sunday to raise money for AIDS/HIV research at the 2015 AIDS Walk San Francisco.

San Francisco, once the epicenter of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, has since made great strides in reducing HIV transmission and implementing prevention policies. On this year’s World AIDS Day, San Francisco’s Getting to Zero Coalition unveiled a draft strategic plan, which aims to make San Francisco the first jurisdiction with zero new HIV infections, zero stigma and zero deaths

I am too young to have witnessed the worst of the AIDS epidemic. I cannot relate to the pain and horror of that time. I have had no friends die from AIDS. My generation of gay men do not feel the threat others could not ignore, and without it, my peers’ awareness of the disease is shockingly low. And while I’ve been knowledgeable about HIV since I was a teen, it wasn’t until I tested positive two years ago that AIDS became deeply personal for me.

With tremendous advances in HIV treatment and prevention, several jurisdictions in the U.S. have created frameworks to radically reduce HIV related deaths and new HIV infections. Current best practices in HIV care, treatment and prevention offer both high and low incidence areas the opportunity to develop local frameworks based on similar goals. No new HIV infections have been seen so far among more than 650 mostly gay and bisexual men who have received pre-exposure prophylaxis – better known as PrEP – through Kaiser Permanente San Francisco since 2012, according to a report in the medical journal Clinical Infectious Diseases
